CANON; Percy Jackson & The Olympians
CANON POINT; After the events of The Titan's Curse
FAMILY TYPES; Deep Savers, Dragon's Roar, Virus Busters
APPEARANCE; Percy is described as being tall, with black hair and sea green eyes. He has a sort of brooding look about him - inherited from his father - which has gotten him branded as a trouble maker by many a teacher, and though he kind of is, he really doesn't mean to be. Although he used to not be particularly athletically gifted, training at Camp Half-Blood has made him muscular and lean, and he's definitely got good stamina. After withstanding the Titan's Curse (holding the weight of the sky in place of Atlas for a short while), there is a streak of gray in his otherwise very dark hair. He dresses like a normal teenage boy - t-shirts, jeans, sneakers, that sort of thing, and doesn't pay too much attention to how he looks, but several characters have remarked that he's attractive.
PERSONALITY; In a lot of ways, Percy Jackson is a typical teenage boy. He's impatient to get his driver's license, likes video games and junk food, is totally awkward when it comes to dealing with the fact that he's probably got a crush on his best friend (good luck getting him to actually admit it, even to himself) and finds school pretty boring and difficult to get through. This is made slightly more complicated by the fact that he really isn't a normal teenage boy, largely due to the fact that his father is the Greek god of the seas, which means most of his life has been spent - sometimes without his knowledge - avoiding monsters that want to eat him.
Although it was a rocky start at first, Percy has adapted well to finding out his true parentage, and at this point, is generally better adjusted than he was at the beginning of canon, both because he's matured through the experiences he's had and has had more time to really come to terms with what his life has in store for him. Although he struggled to catch up with the other kids at Camp Half-Blood at first, he's adapted well to the lifestyle and what's expected of him, coming to look forward to his time there rather than sitting through normal, boring school for most of the year. While he initially doubted and didn't really take most of the information he was being given all that seriously, Percy has learned to have a healthy amount of respect for most of the supernatural beings he runs into on a regular basis, and has a relatively positive relationship with his immortal parent, rather than being resentful as other demigods are of their divine parent. While he'd definitely like a closer relationship with Poseidon, he knows that's not really a realistic wish, and he knows he's lucky to have a really good relationship with his mom and a good circle of friends. He's openly said that he supports the Olympians not just because they're trying to protect Western Civilization, but they're also family, even if they can be weird and frustrating and down right terrible relatives.
This is not to say that he has been completely broken of his tendency to lean towards impudence, as while he is not necessarily blunt, he does generally say what he thinks, especially if he is really morally opposed to something being suggested to him, or if he's just in a bad mood and tired of being messed around with, as he really resents people forcing him into doing what they want. He has a short temper and can get frustrated with people easily, although he tries to keep level headed now more often than he did when he was younger, usually coming off as pretty laid back when in a good mood. He has a generally sarcastic sense of humor, which is pretty much always present no matter how dire or potentially dangerous the situation he's found himself in is. Witty banter and backtalk is definitely a Thing for him, and considering he's used it on everyone from bullies at school to Ares, it's probably not going anywhere. This inability to think first before opening his mouth can apply in other scenarios too, like how he has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth when discussing things like Annabeth's relationship with her father or Thalia's fear of heights. He says what he thinks and blurts things out without meaning to, and then awkwardly tries to make up for it.
Patience is a virtue Percy never really picked up on or learned to value, and again, he often just blurts out exactly what he's thinking without considering the potential consequences. This occasional lack of a brain to mouth filter has gotten him in serious trouble before, as he has a smart mouth and doesn't back down easily from stronger opponents. This also means he usually runs into things head first, and while being impulsive and quick to act can be a good thing, it's also a great way to get seriously injured or end up running for your life away from some angry monster. However, sometimes an opponent doesn't expect him to be quite that recklessly suicidal, and he can use their surprise in his favor. Really though, he could probably do to learn a little more discretion. Generally, his going with his gut feeling on a subject has served him and his friends well, and he always tries to do the right thing.
He is a natural leader, able to keep a level head in crisis situations, and extremely loyal to the people he cares about. Percy's "fatal flaw" is that he puts personal loyalty above everything else. He's willing to give up anything for the well being of people he cares about, and sometimes gets blinded to the actual cause they're fighting for because he wants to protect the people he loves. In The Titan's Curse, it takes effort for him to focus on the goal of the quest instead of just focusing on rescuing Annabeth. This also does extend to strangers and enemies as well, as Percy tries to see the good in people (with perhaps the exception of Luke) and really does want to help people if he can, which is how Polyphemus gets under his skin while they're trying to make their escape. He wanted to believe that maybe he wasn't so bad because of Tyson, but then he almost got everyone killed anyway.
Even if he's a little bumbling and awkward when it comes to dealing with real emotional problems, he does always mean well and puts his whole heart into everything he cares about. He has always been something of an underdog back in the real world, and as such, likes to try to build up and support others who are in that position, as evidenced by his relationships with Grover and Tyson. While he does feel a little frustrated at times in the early stages of his relationships with the two because life would probably be easier for him if he wasn't friends with the most unpopular guy at school, he feels obligated to stand up for them and be their friend anyway. In both cases, this evolves into a much truer friendship when Percy gets over the teenage anxiety of hating/wanting to be like the popular kids, and in general, he's someone who can get along well with just about anyone, if given the opportunity.
He's got a very distinct - although not necessarily black and white - idea of justice and right and wrong. When there's something happening that he thinks isn't fair, he can't help but speak his mind about it, even if it's potentially dangerous to do so, and likes to help people in need. While he definitely doesn't mind killing monsters, the idea that Luke is now willing to hurt mortals too - as evidenced by his new sword Backbiter - doesn't sit well with him at all, and it's very clear he has no desire to hurt mortals or other half-bloods. This sense of morality can sometimes make him quick to judge people - for example, he thinks Bianca made the wrong choice in deciding to join the Hunters of Artemis instead of sticking with her brother, but he realizes after getting to know her better that the decision was not entirely selfish. He's willing to admit he was wrong or judged someone too harshly, but he's also definitely capable of holding grudges towards people like Ares and Luke.
He can be pretty stubborn and jealous, not backing down from an argument even when he knows he probably should, and a large part of his resentment towards Luke for a substantial part of the novels is his feelings of jealousy towards his formerly close relationship with Annabeth. He can definitely get competitive with people, especially Thalia, because while the two are friends, they both like being in charge and think they have what's best for the group at heart, which means if they disagree, they squabble.
Although he can come off as relatively oblivious - often missing out on simple solutions to things or not quite picking up on the warning signs of disguised as quickly as his companions, and generally being kind of clueless about other people's feelings about certain subjects - Percy is actually pretty smart, and often comes up with very effective ways to get himself and his friends out of dangerous situations with creativity and brainpower. He is, however, not a great student because of his difficulties with reading and paying attention in class, and he knows a lot less about Greek myths than people like Annabeth, which often leaves him feeling stupid when discussing the subject, but when taken out of a classroom proves that his often poor grades and general lack of knowledge about mythology are not true indicators of his intelligence.
While he's still immature, reckless, impulsive and quick to lash out, Percy has grown up since the first time he came to Camp Half-Blood. While he might not like some of the responsibility that comes along with being a demigod, he still accepts it instead of trying to shirk it off on other people, perhaps most significantly in the way he steps up to accept the Great Prophecy as his own, instead of trying to find a way out of it and pass it on to Nico. He also makes a real effort to be there for other people even if he finds it awkward or frustrating, and has become a little better at taking things seriously.

Percy was decidedly Not Sure what to make of all this.
There were plenty of similarities to home - more than he really feels comfortable with, in a lot of ways. Chosen children, called here to help save the world from monsters that basically want to rip your face off if you're not careful... it's really not all that different from the company line he's been told since he showed up at Camp Half-Blood, and while he'd definitely grown to accept that, being yanked away from all of it to come here was... kind of terrible, to be honest.
At first, he really thought he'd been kidnapped, which really wasn't all that out of the question. His next thought had been that he'd fallen asleep playing video games or something, because this was way, way different from the kind of dream he usually had and there was no other possible explanation for what had just happened (probably), but the white and purple fluffy thing badgering him to wake up and play kind of wrecked the whole "this is just a dream" thing.
Which... really didn't help matters at all. He'd heard Culumon's explanation, but he hadn't really processed any of it, because the whole thing was just so out of left field. He kept looking for something, anything that would make this seem like the work of some angry god, or one of Kronos' followers, or just some elaborate prank or something, but there's nothing familiar about this. No dead give away about who might be behind this, and Culumon definitely doesn't look like any Greek monster he's ever seen or heard of, even if he'd probably get along fine with Tyson and Rainbow.
After promising the excitable little creature that they'd play later, he headed over to the table, but not before slipping his hand in his pocket and finding nothing. No magic pen. He reached out with the empathy link, trying to think about tin cans and enchiladas and recycling, hey Grover, I kind of maybe got kidnapped, so you might want to- but there was nothing. No Riptide, no Grover.
This sucked.
He walked over to the table and lets it scan his hand, picking up the two devices and looking them over, wondering what on Earth he was supposed to do with these. Hopefully they weren't supposed to be the "Digital World" (whatever that was) equivalent of cellphones, considering that would be like sending up an emergency flare of hey, I'm a half-blood and I'm lost, please come and eat me! He flips open the D-Terminal and sees the message waiting for him, but considering he was already feeling pretty impatient and not a little freaked out (which was really translating to feeling kind of angry), the words start swimming even faster than they normally would, and he knows there's no use trying to force it unless he wants to have a massive headache and get more and more frustrated.
He flips it shut again, scowling, not sure if he should start yelling for help or for whoever was behind this to come down and confront him face to face.
But Culumon had said something about his partner waiting outside, whatever that really meant. Considering the cute little... whatever it was didn't seem to be much use, it didn't look like he had much of a choice.
He steeled himself and went for the door, hoping he wasn't about to wander into some crazy ambush without a weapon or having any real idea of where he was. Not really the way he wanted to go out.
Really, he was still kind of hoping he was just dreaming.
